Sovos announces AI capacities across workflow

Tax compliance solutions provider Sovos announced new AI capacities not as a standalone feature, but as an intelligent layer embedded throughout the compliance lifecycle.

Called Sovi—derived from the Latin roots sophia (wisdom) and vis (power)—it operates through natural language and visual interfaces to enable both technical and non-technical staff to navigate tax compliance.

“Sovi isn’t just smart, it’s Sovos smart,” said Sovos CEO Kevin Akeroyd. “It understands the nuances of global tax compliance better than any other product or solution on the market. It codifies Sovos’ global tax compliance and regulatory expertise, developed across the 15 billion transactions we process every year in almost 20,000 tax jurisdictions worldwide.”

The bot features self-service analytics to eliminate IT dependencies for finance and tax teams; biometric security and AI validations to reduce errors, fraud and compliance mismatches; a conversational AI interface alongside dashboards to uncover hidden issues and opportunities; and compliance capabilities regardless of country, volume or complexity.

Sovos plans to further upgrade the bot over time. Anticipated future capabilities include AI-driven compliance checks, Ask Sovi for embedded assistants, automated mapping tools for goods and services classification, and intelligent document agents for AP process automation.

“Sovi AI brings both precision and depth to the complex world of tax compliance,” said Swati Garodia, chief product officer of Sovos. “Sovi seamlessly switches perspectives from macro-level global mandates to micro-level transaction risk, helping businesses stay compliant with unprecedented clarity and intelligence.”

The news comes just a few weeks after Sovos announced a collaboration with Tungsten Automation, which makes workflow automation solutions, to deliver an integrated, compliant AP solution. The combined solution supports both paper and PDF invoice capture using OCR and AI-powered technology for document processing and connects with supplier portals while integrating with ERP and procurement systems. It provides global tax determination and real-time compliance with e-invoicing regulations.
